Why do people build expensive monuments on the graves of their loved once?
Marble concreted walls around the grave, huge statues of angels standing with opened wings, St. peter and st. michael standing with their walking sticks over the tomb stone and jesus with his hand pointing towards the grave. Must have spent thousands right?
I have come to realise that when it comes to looking after their dead people by spending huge sums of money on concrete , the Greeks and italians have cornered the market.
When alive these chaps are so stingy that if they see a 5 cents coin in a lump of bog they will put their tongues and take it.
and their families who are equally misers will not hesitate to spend thousands to build concrete statues on the graves of their dead family members .
Why is that?

Vanity.
They are trying to convince others of their"love" for the departed.
I have told my family that I want nothing to remind anyone of my existence.
(I do not want a grave,there are far to many people who would want to urinate on it)
They can do what they like with my body,burn it,secretly bury it or feed it to the ravenous animals of the forest,I do not care.
Once any memory of me has faded,then that is it.-gone forever.
