Electric hand tool to carve letters into small-med. stones?
Anyone know a small electric tool I can use to carve letters or glyphs into small stones? Hopefully not expensive.
Depending on the detail of the engraving that you want to do,
you might find the lower priced dremel models a little light for engraving on stone. The better ones have better features and should do well on fine detail work. You might expect to pay over $150 for a Dremel digital high speed.
What you need is the right tool for stone, and a diamond tip - most are not cheap.
Carbide tips are usually fine for engraving metal, plastic, wood, glass, stone, wood and ceramics. They'll do, usually.
Yes, you can get the same engravers in the hardware aisle and tool departments in discount and department stores and in home improvement stores.
