Raku Spirit Houses



			Spirit Houses

These houses are part of an ongoing series. Strictly non-functional in a utilitarian sense, they function for the soul. They evoke different things for different people. I have had them likened to buildings in Spain as well as the Orient. I think that they may be remnants of buildings and places that I remember, growing up in South Carolina..
They have followed me for some time.
Consisting mainly of low fired clay, red earthenware and white raku body, they have been fired several times to achieve the end results.
Memories...ghosts...spirits of past and present. Images, glimpses...shelters of and for ones thoughts.

	This spirit house features a red clay body, small wedge legs and a spotted, Quonset style roof. 7”H x 8 1/2” W x 9 3/4 “ L $130


	This stilt style spirit house has a red clay roof with horizontal white stripes and a white roof fin. The walls are semi opaque yellow gloss, and the legs are a dark turquoise blue gloss. 9 3/4”H x 7 1/2”W x 9 1/2”L $165.00

	A-Frame style house with red clay body with white glaze and a waffle texture roof with yellow glaze 9 1/4”H x 14 1/2”W x 8 3/4” L $160


	The heavily smoked white roof of this spirit house is accompanied by orange glazed walls and beautiful glaze washed animal and plant imprinted legs. 12”H x 10”W x 12 1/2” L $180
