How has dissection helped in representing human figure in art during Rennaissance???
Hey!!! I just wanna know how has dissection helped artists ( of any kind during the Rennaissance) in representing human figure in a more explicit way. I just need a brief idea about it and maybe some examples. That would be great if you could gimme some useful links.
Thx!!!
Dissection of human bodies was incredably signifigant in the Renaissance. Artist needed/wanted to fully understand the way the human body looked and worked in order to correctly portray it. Leonardo di Vinci is by far the most famous of the dissectors/body snatchers. He dissected corpses regularly and used combinations of human and animal bodies in many cases (see: fetus in womb). He got into a great deal of trouble with the catholic church for stealing cadavers. The whole thing is incredably fascinating if you really read into it.
